“WEBISODE’’: three strange syllables that could launch the career of aspiring Shailer Park actress Hayley Jones. The 21-year-old has landed the only female role in an online comedy show and will be glued to her computer when the first weekly instalment premieres today. The six short “webisodes’’ will be closely watched by network scouts and could find prime TV time if online audiences like what they see. Jones, who grew up as a “naturally extroverted’’ child at her parent’s Wild Child Acting and Dance Studio at Springwood, said RockDogs marked her first big break. The show follows the lives of a grunge garage band as they search for fame, with help from a shonky band manager and neurotic girlfriend. “It was great to work alongside five professional comedians, although it was very hard to keep a straight face at times,’’ Jones said. “They come out with these one-liners and you have to try to stay in character sometimes I couldn’t look them directly in the eye because I’d just lose it and laugh.’’ Jones said filming was a rushed affair, with only one weekend on set at a Fairfield house scheduled for demolition. “There was one rule during the whole thing – leave the toilet seat down,’’ Jones said of the male-dominated set. “Ninety per cent of the time they were okay.’’ While it is yet to premiere, the show has already opened doorsfor the confident brunette, who works at her aunt’s film andTV casting agency at Balmoral. Jones attracted the eye of director Rob Cleave and was picked to star in Japanese Girl, an international feature film shot on the Gold Coast last week. It will likely be released by December. “I’m just hoping this is the start of more to come – it has definitely made me hungry for more,’’ Jones said.
